FAQ
Marine turbocharger questions, answered briefly.
General answers to the questions we hear most often. For anything specific to your vessel or unit, contact us directly.
Draft — pending technical reviewWhat does a marine turbocharger do?
A turbocharger uses energy from the engine's exhaust gas to drive a compressor that feeds more air into the engine. More air allows more fuel to be burned efficiently, which supports engine output and fuel economy.
What are common signs of turbocharger trouble?
Typical warning signs include unusual noise or vibration, changes in charge air pressure or exhaust temperature, visible oil leakage, smoke, or a drop in engine performance. These signs can have other causes, so the unit should be inspected by a qualified specialist.
What is the difference between cartridge exchange and overhaul?
In general, a cartridge exchange replaces the rotating assembly as a unit, while an overhaul dismantles, inspects and reconditions the existing components. Which one suits your unit depends on its condition, the make and model, and the time available. We can advise once we know the details.
Do you service turbochargers on board?
Yes. Our field service covers on-board and shipyard work, depending on the unit and the situation. Tell us the vessel, its location and the turbocharger model, and we will confirm what can be done on site.
How do I request a quote?
Use the contact page, or call or message us, with your vessel details, the turbocharger make and model, and a short description of the issue. We will reply with the next steps.
Which brands do you work with?
Contact us with your turbocharger make and model; we will confirm.
How fast can you respond to a breakdown?
Response time depends on the vessel's location and the situation. Sample: we typically reply within a few working hours. Please contact us as early as possible with the details.
Do you supply spare parts?
Yes. We supply components for repair and reconditioning, matched to your turbocharger. Send us the make, model and serial number so we can identify the correct parts.
Where are you located?
Our workshop is at Orta Mah. İshakpaşa Cad. Modsan San. Sit No:3/11, Tuzla / İstanbul, Turkey.
How do I send photos or the nameplate?
Send them by WhatsApp on +90 545 743 51 43 or by e-mail to info@turboturk.com.tr. A clear photo of the nameplate, photos of the unit and any visible damage, and a short description of what happened are the most helpful.
